A new year; a new set of expectations, pressures and abandoned resolutions...if I let it be that. Lately, any time I've gotten overwhelmed about something, I just picture the ocean or stars. Specifically, I'm standing on a cliff, looking out at the endless bounty of the ocean, or lying on the grass on a warm night marveling at the galaxy mass that twinkles and breathes and reminds me that there is a power much greater than us in the universe.
It reminds me of e.e. cumming's poem:
For whatever we lose (like a you or a me),
It's always ourselves we find in the sea.
Nature has a way of reminding me how small I am, but also, in the short time I have in this life, I can be positive and embrace the power I have over my life to make an impact that may or may not be remembered after I'm gone.
